The Queens Midtown tunnel is a 2 km tunnel connecting the Queens and Manhattan in New York. Rehabilitation was required after the hurricane Sandy in 2012. The use of powerline communication technology in TLACS facilitated and shortened the installation of the new lighting system in the tunnel. This technology has saved hundreds of thousands of dollars by reducing the purchase of wiring, conduits and connectors, as the luminaires are controlled by existing power wires.
