Codina tunnel in the north of Spain
The Codina tunnel is located in the north of Spain in the Pyrenees Mountains. To reduce the energy usage of the required lighting, the interior HID luminaires have been replaced by LED luminaires. To further reduce energy usage of the existing entrance HID luminaires and the new interior luminaires, the TLACS solution has been selected to optimize lighting levels. The solution mixes individual control of the HID luminaires with group dimming with Remote Dimming Enclosures (RDE) for the interior LED luminaires. As the tunnel has two electrical systems to feed the tunnel lighting, there are two lighting control systems. For safety purposes, both systems exchange external lumens level readings to allow each system to select the required lighting level based on the tunnel’s orientation. Remote control and monitoring is implemented in each system thanks to the TLACS Network Controller’s embedded web server..
