It is a 1,400-foot-long and saves 10 minutes on the road through the Mule Mountains, at 6,030 feet above sea level, on US 80.<\/p><p>The installation of the<strong> new lighting in the tunnel helps to improve safety and maintain optimum traffic flow<\/strong>. This addition to the tunnel enables drivers to see objects at the correct braking distance before entering the tunnel. It also prevents them from slowing down if they enter an area much darker than the open road.\u00a0<\/p><p>Morover, TLACS controls 4 street luminaries installed before the tunnel approach.
