COMMISSIONING IN ARIZONA AZ-80 – MULE PASS TUNNEL
Our technical team has completed the commissioning of the new TLACS Intelligent Lighting Control System in the Mule PassTunnel, where 188 LED luminaires have been installed.
The Mule Pass Tunnel was built 65 years ago to ease the trip from/to Bisbee, Arizona. It is a 1,400-foot-long and saves 10 minutes on the road through the Mule Mountains, at 6,030 feet above sea level, on US 80.
The installation of the new lighting in the tunnel helps to improve safety and maintain optimum traffic flow. This addition to the tunnel enables drivers to see objects at the correct braking distance before entering the tunnel. It also prevents them from slowing down if they enter an area much darker than the open road.
Morover, TLACS controls 4 street luminaries installed before the tunnel approach. As these luminaries are equipped with the LPC Twist (LPC 480, 7-pin designed per ANSI C136.41 form factor) they are controlled and monitored with the same lighting control system used in the tunnel.
Solution:
- TLACS-EM
Characteristics:
- 188 LED luminaires
- 5 LPC Twist luminaires
- Tunnel length 1400 ft.
