ANTON ANDERSON TUNNEL – ALASKA

The Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel is the longest (2.5 mi.) road tunnel in North America, and the first designed for temperatures of -40 Farenheight and winds of 150 mph.

The tunnel is multimodal with a single lane. Cars alternate directions every half hour, and a train occasionally passes through. Nyx has adapted its lighting control to quickly manage these variable scenarios depending on direction and mode of use.

Once the tunnel was equipped with the TLACS-EM solution, energy savings of 54% were achieved. The Nyx-Hemera solution is an example of energy and luminaire savings and increased safety.

Solution:

  • TLACS-EM

Characteristics:

  • Road/Rail
  • 1 line alternative tunnel
  • Lengh 2.5 miles
  • 341 LED luminaires
  • 54% energy saving
