ORIENTE TUNNEL – MEDELLIN, COLOMBIA
Located in the north of the country, the Oriente Tunnel is one of the longest road tunnels in Latin America. It measures 5.1 miles and connects the city of Medellín with the José María Córdova International Airport in Rionegro. It is one of the most important infrastructures in the country.
It is estimated that up to 35,000 vehicles pass through it on weekends. This important infrastructure is equipped with 858 LED luminaires, all controlled and monitored by Nyx Hemera’s TLACS-EM solution.
The TLACS-EM road tunnel lighting control solution uses power line communication, which offers several benefits, including improved safety, energy savings of 25 to 55%, increased equipment life, and reduced maintenance costs.
