Nyx Hemera Technologies has just completed the commissioning of a new TLACS‑U lighting control system in the East Side Transit Tunnel in Providence, Rhode Island.
The system, integrating 110 luminaires under TLACS‑U control, is part of a Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) project to modernize the East Side Transit Tunnel.
Built in 1914 to facilitate the ascent of streetcars up College Hill, the East Side Tunnel is a key element of the transit infrastructure linking downtown Providence to its eastern neighborhood. Now used for bus transit, the tunnel has benefited from renovations, including improved lighting, structural repairs and restoration of the historic bus shelter, restoring the century-old facility to its former glory.
