THE TOWN OF HOPKINTON – MASSACHUSETTS
The vibrant community of Hopkinton, located on Rte 85 & 135, 6.2 miles west of Boston, decided to upgrade its outdoor lighting system. The TLACS-A smart lighting control system forms part of the new system. The project aimed to improve road safety for vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians while alleviating congestion in the town center.
As part of the upgrade, new LED luminaires with adjustable brightness based on ambient lighting and town events were installed. The selected models, the GranVille III and the Memphis Teardrop from Holophane, are decorative luminaires which prevent the use of visible RF antennas or Wi-Fi control due to their design. Therefore, the chosen solution is the TLACS-A system, which uses power line communication and exploits the existing electrical wiring to provide seamless control and monitoring of the lighting system.
Solution: TLACS-A
Characteristics:
- Retrofit
- 23 LED Decorative street lights
- Passive powerline filter to block any potential noise generated by external equipment
